Invaluable Education and More Fun Than a Truckload of monkeys A little over a year ago I bought my first truck. My intent was just to get a more reliable vehicle for road trips and family adventures into the mountains, ski trips, etc. It quickly re-ignited my interest in the great outdoors. I had done lots of camping, backpacking, hiking etc but I had been hearing a lot about this overloading thing. I thought, wow, it's like backpacking with your vehicle. My backpacking days were when I was much younger and didn't have kids. The thought of backpacking with my 7 year old sounded like I'd be carrying a lot of gear. However, with Overlanding I might be able to get a similar experience without carrying all the gear on my back. To get some experience to driving my new truck off-road my wife contacted CampDads and booked me for an introductory day of wheelin'. It was a pretty good anniversary gift. What a great experience! I met my guide near the trailhead along with a couple of other participants. He spent some time going over some safety and equipment guidelines, explained what kind of route were were taking, and helped us get our rigs dialed in for the ride. Then we hit the trail. It started out as just a somewhat bumpy ride as we climbed up near the top. Then we stopped to talk about what was ahead. The route got way more interesting after that. The rest of the day was filled with beautiful views, tons of new information about using my rig to get out and explore, some adrenaline pumping moments, and great conversation. If I could take CampDads with me on all of my off-road adventures I would. I learned a lot, had a ton of fun, and created some great memories.

Fun 4x4 Experience near San Diego We had an incredible experience. I was looking for some activities on a trip to San Diego. Most things were shut down due to COVID but the 4x4 experience was still open. What I thought might just be a day killer, turned into one of the coolest things I’ve done. Our guide, Jeremy, showed us all the best spots in the desert and we were able to cut loose in his Jeep. He also guided us through a cave and a mountain hike. It was my brother-in-law, me, and our 3 kids (6,9,11) and a great time was had by all.

Otay Mountain Adventure Our adventure began on Otay Mountain, a place this native San Diegan has never explored. My Jeep Grand Cherokee was clean and comfortable and outfitted to handle anything the mountain trail threw at us. We started out on some small but challenging boulders. They were just large enough to push the envelope but safely conquered. Jeremy’s route was perfectly designed to slowly build my confidence while taking me into some hair raising terrain. We ended the adventure along the US Mexico border, traveling along the newly constructed border wall which was cool to see up close! This novice off roader is looking forward to the next adventure.

Breathtaking Views This was not what I expected. The views were simply amazing. I am extremely afraid of heights but this adventure was so worth me facing my fears to see those beautiful sights.

Great off-road adventure! Excellent!! Fun adventure!! Jeremy gives you confidence to drive the obstacles and has a lot of knowledge on the area. Very personable and fun!!

This is an absolute blast. Very knowledgeable about the trail and also about the history and current conditions of everything going on. Made a few stops on the way for us to be able to explore the local area and get some pretty awesome pictures and learn some pretty cool stuff.

Great teacher, guide and build advisor Jeremy helped me get started with a course in basic off road skills. He is a great instructor and guide. He has continued to help me develop my skills. He is always available to answer my questions and for expert build recommendations.

Fun and exciting It was a fun outing, definitely would do again. Great guild and knowledgeable of the paths we was on. I think the only issue I would say I had was there was some pushy people involved and also the guild didn't really communicate well in certain parts. I believe in slow and steady but also a little speed when there's an opening.
