Youth & Family Program Director

This position is responsible for the administration, development, budgeting and marketing of CampDads’ youth & family programs, special events and operation of the Basecamp Clubhouse in cooperation with other departments, the Swingtree Ropes Course and Adventure programs. Responsibilities include continuous high-quality customer service, which includes, but is not limited to meeting internal and external customer needs, and for ensuring safety of program staff and volunteers.

$24,000 – $72,000/year DOE

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Set/follow standards for a qualified staff and a safe program: recruit, obtain paperwork and training certifications from, evaluate, and supervise all necessary staff, facilitators, volunteers and parents
  • Communicate and coordinate program information for front desk and other staff; respond to the public in a timely and profesisonal manner; ensure registration and liability forms are complete and current for all program participants; update website and program calendars
  • Plan, organize, market and evaluate programs, events and outreach opportunities
  • Conduct clinics necessary to train volunteers
  • Establish contracts and work with local organizations to reserve facility space
  • Monitor daily operations of all programs; order all equipment and supplies within budget; determine program needs; maintain statistical enrollment data on all programs for reports; set up special camps as needed
  • Prepare budgets, record journal entries and deliver financial reports for the department
  • Create, apply and evaluate internal goals and standards, including assisting in implementing CampDads Foundation strategic plan
  • Plan, develop, organize, market, supervise and evaluate special events and new youth, family and adventure programming
  • Solicit sponsorship and donations for special events
  • Oversee daily administration, development, fundraising, scheduling, budgeting and marketing of all Adventure Programs and Swingtree Ropes Course ensuring safety, create new programming, with special focus on outdoor adventures, team building programs/offerings and specialty camps
  • Schedule and support Swingtree staff; review staff and volunteer needs and establish protocol for involving; ensure completion and filing of all paperwork, scheduling training and shifts, making certain that all shifts and events are covered, and ensuring all required trainings and certifications have been completed
  • Uphold inspection standards for Swingtree equipment; maintain inspection and safety documentation, and retire equipment as needed
  • Assist with special events and other programming, as needed
  • Articulate and promote the mission and demonstrate CampDads core values of community, compassion, service, stewardship and authenticity; articulate this difference when appropriate to guests and partners
  • Represent CampDads throughout the community; attend staff meetings and other meetings and trainings as required; maintain a professional appearance and manner reflective of CampDads standards

Education/Experience:

Four-year degree in a related field preferred and/or equivalent job experience.

Experience working with all age groups preferred. Must be highly motivated, possess strong organizational skills and be willing to work as part of a team. Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license. Must be able to pass a background check. Must have experience and competency with software applications related to general office operations and communication.

Desired: Budget and program administration experience; marketing experience; program development; recreation facility management experience

Must have the ability to:

  • Pass CPR/AED/First Aid certification by an approved provider within 3 months from original date of hire and maintain while employed.
  • Supervise staff, interns and volunteers
  • Work a flexible schedule, including week nights (occasional weekends as required)
  • Plan and organize work in a timely manner to meet deadlines
  • Develop and coordinate well-supervised, high-quality programs
  • Exercise mature judgement and sound decision making
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift 40 pounds using proper technique
  • Must be able to climb course obstacles safely demonstrating proper technique
  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Must have adequate vision to review documents and computer screens
  • Must have adequate hearing to respond to staff and interact with the public

Desired Outcome:

The Program Director will present a competent and positive image of CampDads Adventures through the professional and safe management of youth, adult, family, community adventure programs, quantified by completion of key areas of responsibility and continuous improvement of systems.

Compensation:

Personnel policy governs work conditions and benefits. The first 90 days of employment are considered a trial period at which time performance will be evaluated by the Director of Operations and Advisory Board Members.
